Pros
Worked for Lionbridge on various projects from 2008 to 2016 and again on 2021. Lionbridge is not a product owner but more of a body shop to provide testing of software and multi-lingual translations for documentation, UIs etc. While their clients are some of the top software and hardware companies in the U.S. , they are contract driven to provide a range of services at a lower cost than smaller companies, They get the contracts that are often long term and provide people with stable work but at a lower salary than other companies. All in all they treat their employees favorably and do open opportunities for advancement once they prove their loyalty and dedication to just getting the job done,
Cons
Very little in the way of upper end tools are provided as well as training. IOW, for software testers, the latest automation tools are not made available, nor are analysis tools for data analysis. This lack of support for learning and using the latest software tools available hinders ones ability to enhance their skillset expected by other companies. Data Analytics software like Tableau is a standard in the industry, yet, you aren't likely to find it used or available in Lionbridge for example. This lack of advanced level toolsets limits the skillset of Lionbridge employees that need such in their job or future skills required by other companies if one looks to work elsewhere. The reason for this is $$$$ they do not want to spend and knowledge that with advanced skillsets come higher wage demands or the employee will move elsewhere. So if you have no aspirations to learn and work with advanced tools made available to employees in other companies, but just collect a paycheck with little advancement in your technical knowledge...... work for Lionbridge.
