Pros
*Conversion to fulltime status after a year of service (however, "after a year" is slippery to these folks) *Some nice people *Work can be challenging and interesting
Cons
Generally an unpleasant workplace. There seems to be a lot of corruption and nepotism here, which results in unqualified and incompetent individuals being elevated who don't have the temperament or the training to be effective leaders. My supervisor was unfortunately one of these people - he relied on passive aggression in doing anything. You can certainly tell that a toxic workplace culture bleeds from the bottom downward - if the leaders are ineffectual, incompetent and conflict-averse, the people they lead will become disaffected and unhappy. Everyone on my team was so afraid to voice their real concerns and constructive criticism - no one bothered saying anything, because nothing would change as a result. My supervisor allowed me to be bullied on multiple occasions and even did some of the bullying himself. There is no positive feedback, only negative feedback, so that a hardworking person will feel burnout very early on and just stop trying as hard. It's so unfortunate that the ethics of this organization and the treatment of its employees and contractors is so poor.
