A good company with typical problems of miscommunication on-the-other-shore - Unit Director Lineate Employee Review

Pros

Overall culture is very good. Despite the things mentioned below, I like working in the company very much, especially this year, when its structure became more streamlined from responsibility & authority point of view. Processes and decision making become much more effective. Unit Directors, department heads and executives are great people -- very smart and pleasant to work with. Engineers are just best -- company does its best to retain best people in the industry, though now it's very difficult.

Cons

Biggest con is weak connection with US office, where we have presales and customer relations related people. Often they misinterpret plan made by RU development team and agree wrong things with a customer. It is not a very big problem, when we can just loose money because of that. But it much worse when we can not physically fit into the agreed terms, so demotivate our people and loose customer's trust. Another problem is that CEO, who is overall a good person, and me personally taught a lot from him, sometimes quickly jumps to conclusions and decisions, instead of asking a few clarifying questions. And then just stays on his position no matter what. It creates feeling of not-being-heard and stubborn management in people who directly communicates to him.

Pros

Office space in a WeWork and free lunch on Thursdays where they discuss company goals. Good flex hours and work/ life balance.

Cons

There is an obvious divide between the Russian corporate culture in the Omsk office and the NY office culture. The former is friendly and productive. The latter is a disjointed culture where sales and marketing seems distant from the engineering side and communication is spotty, passive aggressive and often mixed up. There is no on-boarding help and it's hard to figure out what the company's about on your own, as it's frowned upon to ask others outside your team for help. Fake transparency with subordinates and the division of labor isn't well spread out. As with any startup, there is a lot of change but the change here seems to be sprung upon the employees more often than usual without an explanation.
