Pros

It's great to work with children, and you improve portrait photography skills. Seasonal means off during Summers and winter breaks which is great for those who love to travel. Shifts often end early afternoons. Unemployment is paid out during the breaks off season. You have equipment to use for your own personal projects excluding Lifetouch proprietary backdrops and props. The area manager for NY is a good person and tries to make everyone happy.

Cons

The hourly pay isn't worth the skill, strength, patience, and endurance required to work this job day in day out. This job is only for people who are not the heads of households as you cannot survive in the NYC metropolitan area with minimum wage. Although you should be, there is an expectancy from the schools that photographers work until the job is done which means no breaks. This can be difficult when stuck in a school until late afternoons without taking a break to eat. It is unfortunate precedent set that needs correction, and the main office and sales team should be setting proper expectancy with schools that photographers are human too. Your car is packed with equipment 24/7 unless you live in a house with a garage where you can take the equipment out. You have to carry a lot of equipment in and out of schools, often up and down stairs, usually by yourself. Yes, this is just a job, and someone had to do it, but the pay does not equal the work level required to make it worth it. And you will get sick from seeing different kids in different schools every day, you just will.

Pros

Coworkers were always friendly and great to work with. Insurance was great.

Cons

Literally everything else. Company makes major changes every few months, firing managers across the country without replacements. Did not fire a sales rep who was committing felony fraud but fired small employees with false information. Company is 90 years old but refuses to make basic improvements. Nowhere to move up and bonus is rigged.
