Pros

The people are why I have stayed

Cons

It seems like upper management never knows the direction they are headed. I’ve been with the organization over 5 years and I have seen really amazing managers come and go. Sometimes it’s layoffs, other times it’s other concerns like productivity, etc. They term people in large clusters, which is always concerning however they say that “you are fine.” It is concerning to see that amount of turn over. I feel like management isn’t always placed on experience. Within senior living it’s disappointing seeing a lack of growth and development for leadership teams, which is why I think good leaders leave. I also think that the individual work loads are too high to be sustainable long term, which causes burn out.

Pros

Amazing team! Meaningful work, that leaves you feeling good at the end of the day.

Cons

HR is a revolving door. Rolling out systems with no solid plan when it comes to anything, expecting managers to complete 80+ 1:1 meetings in a month is not ideal in senior living. Maybe on the corporate side where you have a few direct reports. But scheduling communication will not boost retention, it makes it disingenuous.. Keeping good employees by working with them will. The lack of communication is concerning, and corporate turnover is awful.
