Pros

I enjoy some of the flexibility that comes with working at Lifestance. I work remote, but have the option to go into my office whenever I want to or if a client wants to be seen in person. There is no micro-management, and it feels like I can have some control over creating my schedule, moving appointments around, etc. My caseload fills up very quickly, and if you are in need of more clients you can always reach out to the admin team or your supervisor to inform of openings. Company offers discounted CEU's, some internal trainings, stock options, and decent healthcare. I enjoy the co-workers that I have connected with, but it can be a pretty isolating job too. I will say that I have gained a lot of great therapy experience here, and the clients are awesome.

Cons

Benefits and pay are not good enough for being at the licensed level. Pay is okay, but is determined by how many clients you see per week, which can obviously lead to burnout. My biggest gripe is that we get UTO - unpaid time off - which feels extremely degrading being in the mental health field. As a therapist I am constantly encouraging clients to use their time off and help them work towards work-life balance, so it feels contradictory that Lifestance does not offer this benefit to us. It can be hard to take a vacation or request a day off knowing that it will reflect on my paycheck. Even a handful of PTO days could help retain us therapists. Other cons: Not enough chances to connect with colleagues, not a lot of room for growth, hefty "no show" fee for clients, often putting them in difficult situations.

Pros

Incredible place to work to build experience, receive supervision while supporting a diverse client population. Extremely flexible hours, opportunity to either work from home or in office with administrative staff. Truly caring, intentional, experienced regional leaders that are open to feedback and value their employees.

Cons

Working in mental health in a publicly held corporation has its conflicts of interest. No paid vacation time for FT employees which is counterintuitive to the work we do as trauma informed providers. No paid training. Profitability and bottom-line results for shareholders should not be reason to think of long term needs and burnout potential of providers.
