Great pay and flexibility overshadowed by poor management - Psychotherapist LifeStance Health Employee Review

Pros

Competitive pay, W2, good 401k match and benefits. Create your own schedule. My caseload was quickly built up when I was credentialed with Tricare. My colleagues are great and the office environment is peaceful.

Cons

Poor communication from management. The management team is not supportive, helpful, respectful, professional or knowledgeable. Management will push your ethical boundaries around practicing within your scope, so be prepared to advocate for yourself. The Killeen location works with mostly Tricare clients, so clinicians not credentialed with Tricare will experience very slow caseload buildup and limited referrals. Offices are small and the larger, better offices are offered to newer employees to entice them in with no regard to seniority. The office building frequently experiences HVAC issues, so don't expect a consistent office temperature. The scheduling department provides inaccurate information to clients upon intake, so be prepared to receive clients loaded with misinformation. When experiencing credentialing issues, clients are removed from a therapist's schedule immediately with no option to complete a termination session. Clients seem to be bounced around from one clinician to another with no regard for the therapeutic process. Patients experiencing insurance issues are expected to pay an outrageous out-of-pocket fee (very little of which actually goes to the clinician). The scheduling department frequently makes scheduling errors that clinicians are left to resolve on their own.

Pros

Incredible place to work to build experience, receive supervision while supporting a diverse client population. Extremely flexible hours, opportunity to either work from home or in office with administrative staff. Truly caring, intentional, experienced regional leaders that are open to feedback and value their employees.

Cons

Working in mental health in a publicly held corporation has its conflicts of interest. No paid vacation time for FT employees which is counterintuitive to the work we do as trauma informed providers. No paid training. Profitability and bottom-line results for shareholders should not be reason to think of long term needs and burnout potential of providers.
