Pros

The product has a huge user base but it's not a rocket science technology to replicate. Apple has been very unhappy with what Life360 is doing so far and Apple engineers/teams are aware.

Cons

Mobile leadership is a complete let down. People of certain race and men were favored. If you are a female engineer and have issues with these favorites, please cry inside the restroom. You would get a bad review through your manager claiming that you are very sensitive. If the favorites get aggressive and exhibit unprofessional behavior live with it. The mobile leadership would threaten to fire the entire team for these favorites. There were instances of management secretly spying their colleagues with their very own app features to prove how bad this favoritism exists. This might sound crazy but yes it did happen. Bad engineers - Staff engineers who are old school were hired as friends of the cofounders. Now they are messing up the engineering roadmap with their own ideas. Engineers who do nothing but talk enough are plenty here. Some end up being favorites to the leadership team. They would go on countless vacations like they are paid for all of it and still get a promotion. Bad acquisition - Rotten apples come together as a group. The leadership in San Diego knows how to play politics and get away with it. They are known for adding code into the repository that has nothing but bugs written all over it. The San Diego leadership team likes to hire favorites even if the team in SF who interviews say no to these favorites. The San Diego leadership hides secrets related to technology (hello PathSense you have been acquired - act like one) and trains the employees in San Diego on how to behave in San Francisco especially in-front of the HR. Even though they are part of Life360, they act like they are their own pack of wolf. A lot of fake reviews could be seen on Glassdoor from the HR. They hired enough people to write these fake reviews. Please be wary and do your own mindful research elsewhere before you even consider interviewing with this company. One of the very old reviews would have mentioned that engineering is a revolving door - This is quite true and painful that it still happens after 4 years.

Hi, I answer these reviews genuinely and acknowledge problems when they ring true but also try to defend the company when they feel off base. I do not know what you are referencing regarding Apple, other than perhaps using VOIP to do location lookups, but they are aware that we along with others use this work around and we are actually working collaboratively with them on the next iteration of this infrastructure. I strongly defend our track record when it comes to our inclusive hiring. Our numbers back it up, and it is highly frustrating to hear about sexism accusations for the first time on Glassdoor. If this is real, go to HR. If that hits a wall, come to me. If that hits a wall, go to our board (our chairman does office hours every week as you know). If that hits a wall get a lawyer. If gender equity is important to you, which it is to me, I need to hear about it in a more actionable format.

Pros

Really enjoying my time here so far. Everyone is super friendly and there's basically zero tech bro energy which is a huge plus coming from my last company. WFH is an awesome perk and people genuinely respect work life balance. The team is also very AI forward - they encourage developers to learn AI workflows and actually give us dedicated time to do it. The culture and the people make it a great place to work.

Cons

If you don't enjoy being in a fully remote/WFH environment, this might not be the best fit for you. Also, most of the devs are senior engineers or above, so if you're early in your career there's not a ton of other juniors around you.

Pros

1) Being remote FT is an absolute perk, there are no plans to transition to hybrid or in-office as offices have closed or been consolidated 2) Overall, the company pays well

Cons

1) Marketing leadership. Marketing has lacked true leadership for the past 4 years. There are various reasons for this situation, some of which were the product of extensive company wide reorganization and the company not prioritizing marketing. During that time amazing team members stepped up to get the work done, and for that I thank them. Currently, the team leads play favoritism; putting the chosen in a place of growth with others set out to fail. Transparency is a pipedream, a select few leads make all decisions until their plates are too full then hand off to others to bring through execution, usually lacking information or strong understanding of resources, budgets, roadblocks or bandwidth; ultimately setting them up for failure. 2) HRBP. The marketing HRBP is more interested in being liked by dept leadership than being a HR voice for the organization or there to support employees. This team member is more likely to tell you to leave or blame a “cultural fit” than to hear employee concerns 3) Data practices. If you have to ask, you know there is something wrong. 4) Growth. As mentioned with #2, those who are selected are put in positions of growth and promotion. If you are not a chosen one, be prepared to see others around you grow and your contributions never acknowledged. 5) Take a look or the org’s “Our Team” leadership, the importance of diversity speaks volumes. 6) Head to the career’s page, “Our Values” are laughable
