Pros

Coworkers - most of us work with the same objective in mind. Client connections are based on the individual skills of the workers and seemed to be a strength. The paperless system works well and saves crucial time outin the field.

Cons

Seemingly low regard for front line workers and evidence of classism in the workplace. Workplace bullying is overlooked and not dealt with efficiently - perhaps because management feel that it would reflect poorly on them if exposed. Task-orientated-only workers lack human skills and consequently lose touch with the orgs core values and clients. It's the genuine employees who pick up the relationship workload and end up lacking all forms of recognition. How can clients feel valued if staff are not feeling valued? It's not rocket science.

Pros

People in the frontline, especially the disability team, do great work. Your experience really depends on the team you work with. Corporate staff have the option to work remotely and from anywhere in Australia. Depending on your manager, there's job autonomy (ie not micro-managed). My favourite parts were working with good people who did their jobs well, and meeting and telling the stories of the people who use LWB's services. For the most part, people try to live the organisation's values of respect and relationships. Work the organisation does is purposeful, needed and matters. When times are challenging, remember your purpose for being there: to do work that makes a positive difference to people's lives.

Cons

Lack of understanding of what Communications is - and what Comms professionals do - by many in the organisation. Constant restructures and redundancies - they were constantly changing the structure of the Comms and marketing teams. There is no Comms or Marketing executive at Senior/ Executive Leadership level. Very heirachical and elitist - where only leaders' views mattered - which is ironic for a social purpose organisation against discrimination and promoting fairness in society. I was lucky I had good experiences but I witnessed others not being treated well.
