Pros

Benefits and 401K are great, decent bonus, office is nice, free drinks in office, many company catered lunches and activities including bring your child to work day, work life balance is decent, able to travel for training conferences, lower staff are great to work with and very kind employees here.

Cons

The main issue Lhoist has is its management and HR practices. Good Ole Boys Management Style. Very bias towards men and they don’t try to hide it. Men that are underqualified are promoted over well qualified women. They like to place women in “supervisor” roles instead of making them managers or if you are lucky enough to get a “manager” role it is almost impossible to get titles of “senior manager” or “director.” Internal promotions are rare and often require employees to switch departments. They would rather pay high consulting costs than promote and pay their employees more. HR is a joke don't bother going to them for any issues. There were many people with long tenure because this place used to be an amazing to work besides the clear bias toward men, but the culture has shifted over the last several years resulting in high turnover. The last few years almost all of the finance department has turned over. Many people are currently looking for other positions or planning to leave soon so more turnover is coming. The company has rolling periods of layoffs every 4 to 5 years so head count stays lean and many of the employees laid off were older and a few years away from retirement. I gave it two stars because the benefits and 401K are good and if you are starting out it is a good place to learn for a few years but don’t expect to have much advancement opportunities especially if you are a woman. They like work horses that can do multiple people’s jobs for less pay. They are hybrid right now but I would bet they aren't for much longer as CEO wants people back in the office more.
