Pros

Vacation benefits are pretty generous when compared to other companies (10 days first year prorated, 8 paid holidays, 3 flex holidays) but you have to wait a year to get sick time. Some of the employees are genuinely nice, hard-working people who know a lot about the business. Company has huge potential for growth.

Cons

Upper management does not communicate effectively with middle management or any other employees, often leaving them blind to initiatives, goals, objectives, and overall company performance. Some members of the upper management staff are extremely corrupt and blatantly dishonest. Take it or leave attitude makes workplace morale grim. Some departments are expected to do an unreasonable amount of work for a typical 8 hour day. Even the best employees can't keep up with the perceived expectation (like I said, no communication). Recent layoffs have disintegrated whatever positivity was left. The few initiatives which do reach the lower-management staff often feel rushed and/or unplanned with unreasonable timelines for completion/results and no real guidance or resources to accomplish anything meaningful.

Pros

If you know someone in management...you too can become a member of management, even if you have no qualifications whatsoever...Or you may be entitled to make significantly more than your co workers responsible for your training. However, if you are not in this category, see Cons listed below.

Cons

Due to management, and in combination with the nature of the work, an atmosphere with extremely low morale exists. Extremely low pay, hazardous work, constant travel, lack of attention from management, Expected to be on call without being compensated for it, lack of training available, no opportunity for advancement whatsoever (even if you are educated or overqualified), In the southern region of the US a "good ol boys club" atmosphere exists within management...the list goes on and on. Personally, I have been told by my supervisor to disregard federal law and regulations mandated by both OSHA and the Dept. of Transportation in order to get the job done, which "getting the job done" , at least in my particular branch, far too often takes precedence over safety...Corporate has safety mandates in place, however, they are not followed or enforced.
