Decent company, hard to make it a career - Business Analyst Lenovo Employee Review

Pros

Good salary, benefits and bonuses (which can be quite substantial).

Cons

Twice a year formal reviews that affect bonuses and career, constant pressure. The company is divided into two groups, low cost and high cost (China and everywhere else). They are constantly looking to move jobs into the low cost area so don't get too comfortable. They ask for dedication to the company, but don't offer the same in return.

Lenovo Response

While it is true that some areas are lower cost than others, Lenovo has recently made huge investments in your area, opening 2 new buildings with hundreds of new employees due to our recent acquisition. In the US, Lenovo typically fills 500+ jobs a year consistently in the US and that has not changed. Our US headcount is growing, not declining. Our employees are critical to our success. Nothing is more critical to a business than top talent and top products with a great strategy. Thank you for your contributions while at Lenovo and thank you for your input!

Pros

Interesting work, good benefits, talented colleagues

Cons

Terrible manager behavior, terrible work-life balance, with no recourse or support for employees. I joined and quickly found that the ED I reported to had no experience in the area he oversaw, would not listen to anyone who had experience, was mean to his team members, and set wildly unrealistic expectations without any clear direction or consistency. Bullying, meanness and pointless criticism were the norm, while leadership was completely lacking. And if you work on the Digital Transformation team, expect to spend from 8PM-11PM at night and early morning on calls, with little regard for sleep or work-life balance. The worst part was finding out that the HR team was already well aware of all these problems with my ED (the two other managers under him quit), and the leadership team had no intention of making any changes. So disappointing.
