Pros

Very fast growing company, with the acquisition of two large multinationals over the past 3 months. There are many projects, many new hires, and a new office in a few months. Definitely a lot to happen and career opportunitites for those who are comfortable in the company. There are good values and the company is adamant on applying them.

Cons

Long, long working hours, a lot of work at home in the evenings and weekends (even during vacation if you dare to open your laptop), and very political. It is a chinese company, and it shows how companies work in the new world, and it is the opposite from state owned companies. Some departments are much better than others to work in, depending on the people. The company is a world leader but it still operates as a start up: no follow up for new hires, it is up to you to fight for every information/tip/process. There is so much work to be done that it is hardly impossible for other employees to dedicate time to your integration.

Thanks for your comments Lenovo is on the move. We are growing and performing well. With growth comes speed...and sometimes we need to rely on our employees to fill in any gaps. We look for self starters because there is little hand holding due to our smaller teams. It is certainly true that if you re-engage in emails while on vacation or on weekends, you may get pulled in. There is an art to work life balance as global employee. You must be able to communicate when you are not available and take ownership of that. If there are problems with workload, speak with management to get a better balance. It is a shame that you didn't have more engagement when you were hired, we are working on improving that. You are right, our HR team is lean, which is why it took this long to reply :) We wish you the very best and thank you for your time working at Lenovo and your excellent comments.

Pros

Interesting work, good benefits, talented colleagues

Cons

Terrible manager behavior, terrible work-life balance, with no recourse or support for employees. I joined and quickly found that the ED I reported to had no experience in the area he oversaw, would not listen to anyone who had experience, was mean to his team members, and set wildly unrealistic expectations without any clear direction or consistency. Bullying, meanness and pointless criticism were the norm, while leadership was completely lacking. And if you work on the Digital Transformation team, expect to spend from 8PM-11PM at night and early morning on calls, with little regard for sleep or work-life balance. The worst part was finding out that the HR team was already well aware of all these problems with my ED (the two other managers under him quit), and the leadership team had no intention of making any changes. So disappointing.
