Managers are primarily focused on protecting their own position rather than improving the organization, which you can recognize by full agendas & talking about visibility/stakeholder management. If you enjoy executing whatever management asks, including constant firefighting, without asking too many questions, or if you thrive in internal politics, this might be a good fit. If you bring experience in technical leadership and decide to join, expect meetings and administration with minimal technical work. Peter’s Principle is visible everywhere in this siloed low-tech company. Decision-making is slow, accountability is diffuse, and ownership is carefully avoided.
