Pros

The company is mostly remote for their tech employees, which is great. There have been a few times in the past few years when they seemed to be shifting to focus on employees. A lot of the individual contributors are great and most teams get along pretty well.

Cons

The past year have gotten much tougher here. Leadership, above team leader's, has completely lost sight of what it really means to work here on a day to day basis, especially the tech leadership. More and more work is assigned and requested without every really considering how much work teams are doing and giving us the support to finish what we are working on and its not the kind of environment that you can bring that up. There is occasional acknowledgement of things we accomplish, but only the really customer viewable things, not things that aren't directly visual or measurable, and its always qualified with things like 'you need to do more', etc... Sometimes when we send out updates, which they do every week, on each teams work, some of leadership will directly call out that team and question how good it really is, which has a big negative impact on moral. Another interesting thing is how many people work late in the evening, sending out emails and messages long after hours even when they have been around working all day, and its symptomatic of how much extra work people have to put in to keep up with things. Honestly it doesn't seem like there is much empathy or understanding from leadership any more and it has lead to an overwhelming work environment that leads to lower quality work and stressed employees.

We truly value your feedback. We understand the dedication and hard work our tech teams put in, and we're sorry to hear that it hasn't always felt recognized or supported. Your input is crucial as it helps us identify areas for improvement, particularly in communication, leadership empathy, and work-life balance. We're currently reviewing our project assignment processes, recognition methods, and the way we use team meetings to foster a supportive environment. We agree that celebrating successes publicly and addressing concerns privately is the culture we aim to cultivate. Thank you once again for your honesty and commitment. Your contributions make us better.

Pros

To be honest, the only positive about the company as a whole is that we have remote work. Other than that, most of our coworkers are good.

Cons

Really a difficult place to work for people in software engineering. My peers are good for the most part, but there are a few difficult people among them. The company, on the other hand, has seriously deteriorated over the past 3 years or so. We've had 3 rounds of IT layoffs in the past 7 years, which seems ridiculously high for a small company, so I'd say it's a really insecure place to work in software. Recently, there has been a big push towards product development rather than software development, which may be a good direction in general, but it will for sure fail because the devestment in the IT department is going to create a huge gap in how much work employees do. I think the work is overwhelming, with almost no support from management other than the same typical empty things you hear from management. In addition to that, there is absolutely 0 employee appreciation or recognition from the business. I've never once been told something positive or encouraging from anyone other than my direct manager, despite the extraordinary things that other people I work with and I have done. We haven't even been given raises to match inflation for the past 4 years, despite last year being our most profitable year in the history of the company. I used to be on the fence about suggesting this company to others, but I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere if you are looking to work in the software/engineering department, based on how unstable a position it is, and how little support we get from our management.
