Pros

- A couple of nice employees in the Berlin office

Cons

I've been venturing through multiple SaaS start and scale-ups throughout my career, with Leapsome being the last on the list. As many organizations Leapsome had its ups and downs in terms of growth, however, it should be said that Leapsome, by far, had the most toxic and mentally challenging work environment. The company prides itself with regular posts on employee wellbeing and benefits, has an entire section on cultural values and diversity, and overpromises great progression internally - none of it with any substance whatsoever. Company values are an outside facade trying to attract a modern audience. Internally none of them are being lived up to or taken seriously. Instead, employees are treated like disposable pawns for some sort of greater good. The entire upper management has no ounce of kindness in their bones, and employees are being literally harassed, even in privately challenging situations, including sick days etc. Challenging the status quo sounds good on paper, the cruel reality looks different. Not agreeing with Leapsome's cult-like behaviour will send you on unwarranted "behavioural performance improvement plans", which essentially means your exit within the next few weeks or months. Leapsome also boasts itself with being overly humble and generous. Again, reality is an absolute non-humble, super toxic sales environment, in which only certain employees are being praised for their work. Looking at the companies diversity ratio, Leapsome substantially lacks any sort of strong representation. Barely any PoC, little LGBT+ representation, and "women in leadership", a term exclusively kept for one of the founders. Taking a closer look at Leapsome's two founders, both are great marketing assets, serving the mere purpose of representing the company to the outside. From an internal perspective, all decisions, regardless of department, are being kept with the two, making it virtually impossible for others to finish work timely or even create substantial impact. Interaction with the two is also incredibly aggressive, or even impossible, considering them not even knowing their employees by name or position. One of them also starkly "believes" in diversity, and will do their best to hire accordingly, which is a total farce considering the internal ratio. On top of that controversial statements are being thrown around internally throughout candidate's hiring processes, trying to "force" and not "attract" a diverse audience. Lastly, looking at internal progression, positions have been gate kept by the same people for years, not proving to be successful whatsoever. Instead, fresh minds are being hired and fired immediately if not adapting to the organization's cult. The lack of accountability in the higher-ranking positions is what ultimately drove many employees to leave for good. Furthermore, the intense lack of expertise in the upper management hinders Leapsome to achieve targets or even work effectively towards its goals.

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to share your honest and detailed perspective. We strive to create a positive, growth-focused environment and culture, and we're disappointed to hear that this was not your experience at Leapsome. While we understand that every organization faces challenges, we’d like to address some of the specific points you raised. At Leapsome, we work hard to embody our core values in everything we do. We are deeply committed to well-being, transparency, and respect - not just in principle but in practice. We work to uphold these values through our benefits programs and policies, ongoing feedback systems, and open lines of communication. Many of our employees have shared that they feel supported by their managers and teams, and we regularly review feedback from employees through engagement surveys and during all-company meetings at all levels of leadership. When something isn’t going well, we encourage our employees and our leaders to discuss challenges directly and work with managers, department leaders, and our People & Culture team to find optimal solutions to address the concerns. Regarding diversity and inclusion, we acknowledge that there is always room for improvement. Accordingly, continue to expand our initiatives to enhance representation across all levels and raise awareness and learning around diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. We've implemented structured hiring processes and are committed to building an inclusive culture where everyone feels seen and valued. We value a sense of belonging and strive to make sure all of our employees feel welcome and appreciated. We understand that internal growth and career progression are critical to employee engagement and satisfaction, and we work to provide fair opportunities for all team members. This includes regular performance reviews, transparent criteria for progression, and access to professional development budgets to develop critical skills. In addition, we’re proud that many of our employees have grown with us, taking on new roles and responsibilities over their tenure. That said, we understand that progression may take different timelines depending on many factors, including personal and business criteria. While it’s unfortunate that your experience did not align with the environment we strive to create, we appreciate your feedback. We will continue to evolve and improve and thank you again for sharing your honest feedback. All the best Katerina Arsova Head of Talent Acquisition & People Operations & Senior People Partner Leapsome
