Not a great place to work - Personal Assistant Laura X Institute Employee Review

Pros

Flexible Hours Opportunities for engaging with interesting Berkeley area activists

Cons

Disorganized organization with little purpose or contribution to society. Head of organization is emotionally needy and immature. There may have been a time when this was an important social movement organization, but that has passed, as have several decades after that as well.

Pros

Create your own schedule, remote work available, get exposure to incredible materials about women's history, incredible co-workers, paid to sometimes cover interesting events about history or politics

Cons

No paid vacation or sick days, staff are regularly micromanaged to an unproductive degree, there are a ton of meaningless email processes that distract from us getting anything done, donor is incredibly emotionally abusive and regularly berates employees (often yells in the face of employees and if we ask a question, we are talked down to and asked if we have eaten anything yet), we are employed thru a temp agency that won't do anything about it - the temp thing is funny because some of us have worked here for 5+ years, we get calls and texts labeled 'URGENT' outside of our shifts for things like not answering an email about office supplies
