Pros

Formerly a great company (actually a series of companies) that was the most reputable builders and marketers of small sailboats. Formerly.

Cons

Now owned by a wack job non-sailor whose specialty in business seems to be going out of business.

Pros

- The product is fun! What is more fun than sailing a dinghy (LP makes the sunfish)!?! - LP is growing in leaps and bounds - excellent time to work at the company - Very flat organizational structure with unlimited access to sr. management - Career opportunities are unlimited. You could realistically spend your entire career at LP moving across all facets of the business - there is no shortage of very interesting work to be done (finance, manufacturing, operations, supply chain, sales, etc). - Great open culture. If you are doing a poor job, you will know immediately, but provided suggestions on how to improve performance. - Coworkers are all very helpful and knowledgeable about the industry. Great knowledge sharing. - Employees have the ability to contribute to solving real business problems, and you really feel like you are making an impact. - Project management and problem solving mentality is common among employees since there are so many projects going on at once. A lot of great intellectual firepower at the company. - If you are looking for a punch clock 9-5 job, this company is not for you

Cons

- Normal growing pains, lots of great and exciting work to be done but not enough time to do it all - Need to be a very independent worker and thinker and always keep sr. management in the loop - this kind of transparency and constant communication can be challenging for some people who do not possess the right work ethic or personality - Customers in the marine industry are very demanding and do not take lightly to anything less than perfection, which can frazzle some employees

Pros

The employees that are not management generally are passionate about what they do and are really good at it. They offer 3 weeks of vacation that you accrue throughout the year. The UK side of the company is doing well for its self.

Cons

Management has no idea how to run a business. The CEO knows very little about manufacturing and nothing about sailboats. There is a reason they closed down North American production and outsourced everything to China while almost all other boat manufacturers in the area are booming. They even had the nerve to tell the factory workers that they were not planning to close while we were putting the molds and plugs in containers to China.
