Pros

The employees are genuinely kind, hardworking, and supportive of one another. Many people care deeply about the mission and do their best despite many limitations. Benefits package is decent.

Cons

Leadership decisions are disconnected from the day-to-day realities employees face. Communication from management lacks transparency, and creates uncertainty around priorities and long-term direction. Compensation falls far below market rates for similar roles, and raises are practically non-existent. Staff turnover is very high, which puts additional strain on remaining employees and contributes to burnout.

Pros

Varied work, independence, accountability, allowed for team leadership on projects (at times), most of the firm's employees are extremely young but nice.

Cons

firm pays contractors 50% of the fee, firm charges clients a surcharge on top of the fee, work assignment distribution is a mystery, client relations is responsibility of the principal advisor (so what value does the firm provide), firm demands loyalty from contractors (can't compete with the firm), firm demands a commission for any projects that the consultant secured independently, a bad hire ruined the experience for me (wish I had never volunteered to help on a new program), even after you leave the firm they try to prevent you from getting your own projects (vindictive/childish)
