Pros

Extremely compassionate (almost lovey) culture that some people will adore being a part of; others may find it odd and over the top. Good smattering of really smart and likable people throughout the business (and like any business, a few massive jerks as well).

Cons

One of the first things you'll hear about Lark when you're introduced to the company is that was named one of the Apps of the Year by both Google and Apple alongside Robinhood, Instagram and other high-flyers...in 2015. Unfortunately, neither the business nor the product have achieved anything resembling a similar trajectory. Product functionality is very dated and ability to ship new features hovers near zero. Yet, the CEO often tells fantastical tales (especially at public events and sales calls) about features that are never going to exist. The app - the cornerstone of the business - is a very simplistic chatbot. Hard stop. The business is slave to three masters: 1. Health insurance clients who have very heavy sway over the direction of the business, but are not forward thinking and don't have the same objectives as Lark. 2. Poor quality and shaky products that are reflective of a poor quality (and high turnover). product and dev org. 3. Cofounders (who are married BTW) who have wildly unrealistic expectations. CEO, in particular, has an alarmingly thin understanding of how the business operates and what its capabilities are.

Thank you for your feedback. I am glad you experienced our culture as compassionate in your time at Lark - that is something we actively strive for. I am sorry that your experience with the sales team wasn’t ideal and doesn’t match up with what is happening at Lark now in the following ways: - First and foremost, our programs have helped hundreds of thousands of patients improve their health outcomes, including losing weight, lowering blood pressure, and reducing their risk of developing diabetes. Our product works. - We made significant changes to our Sales team and leadership this year, which has resulted in greatly increased sales momentum. - We did experience some engineering turnover earlier this year, as did most engineering organizations. However, with a change in engineering leadership and the addition of 4 seasoned new executives this year, we have launched a number of product, data, and engineering enhancements via multiple releases this year, and have an exciting roadmap for 2023. - Finally, while it pains me to see this feedback about me personally, I strive to learn from all feedback and aim to continually grow as a leader. If you’d like to talk 1:1 about your feedback, you know my email address and I would be happy to talk, though I appreciate your desire to remain anonymous if that’s your preference. -Julia, CEO of Lark

Pros

Innovative product, compassionate & one-team culture, diverse and inclusive team

Cons

Healthcare industry is a slow-moving industry. Company growth has been slowed by the healthcare industry cycle. But for any deeply meaningful work, it's worth the wait.

Cons

- tech debt is out of control - no clear direction. I don’t trust the CEO and CTO’s judgement - layoffs upon layoffs - sinking ship
