Pros

Teammates believe in helping each other out. Even to a new person, respectable treatment is encouraged. Active steps are being taken to reduce attrition/breakout. Good options to switch teams and move around within the company. Good technical challenges and focus on materials innovation, research. Strong ethics and values of team members and the company in general.

Cons

No work life balance. In escalations and late-night meetings with teams in Asia all the time. No clear/lack of effective management - manager doesn't help prioritize tasks, everything is urgent all the time. Miniscule pay for the number of work hours put in. Removed the gym that was on campus to make more space for employee desks - shows the focus on work and no life. too many meetings with too many people - wastes too many manhours. Working late is the norm because all days goes in useless meetings.

Pros

Opportunities to support global activities

Cons

Heavy micromanagement — frequent revisions on ppt to minor details like font size and colors. Frequently calling staffs even after work hours and lunch time. Manager often takes on additional work from other teams without considering current team workload, So the manager appears supportive and “nice” externally but creates additional burden to the subordinates. Manager controls team budget strictly for team-building activities (events and meals), team members feel restrictive and reluctant to participate, for example team members dare not order appetizers, dessert or drinks on top of entrees during team events. Manager used up most of the travel budget. Biz trip and personal travel boundaries are unclear, especially when manager frequently has business trips overlaps with personal travel. Seems like manager using biz trip to get free hotel and free air tickets for PTO.
