Pros

None that come to mind

Cons

Work could be rewarding if the company actually knew what it wanted to do to be when it matures. In its current situation, I could not, in good faith, recommend anyone to apply or work here. Too robotic for true transformation, with very little experience in actual consulting. It is a "take what you get" kind of agency. The story is good to get you there, but buyer beware once you start. If you are a mid/senior or principal level resource, would not advise applying.

Pros

This may help explain some of the negative reviews … it is a very close-knit group here at The Lab … if someone is not a fit, it is typically very apparent to all involved right away that it is not going to be a match (interviews don’t always reflect how someone will function in their role, including how they will work in the office or integrate with the team). Here’s the basics for success: maintain a positive attitude, manage your time effectively and efficiently, be proactive and move your work forward, be polite to your new coworkers (crazy this needs mentioned!), and take a minute to listen & learn the current processes (don’t come in wanting to change everything on the first day/being a ‘know it all’). Yes, it is busy here. But busy is good. If you are looking to coast – this is not the place for you. It’s a COLLECTIVE effort here (again, back to my close-knit group comment before). The people here understand that, take pride in that, and help one another each and every single day. Full-time roles are 8 to 5 (1 hour for lunch). You are NOT expected to work after hours (this is my first job where my employer has NOT been blowing up my cell phone outside of office hours – a very welcome change). When you are off, you are off. There is some travel on the consultant side, but it’s infrequent at best, and depends on the client project. It is a hybrid work schedule for most full-time roles (after your first 30 days) – it’s one week at the office, one week at home. I would say the collective goals here are (in no particular order): 1) evaluate our clients’ needs and help them succeed, 2) grow our overall business, and 3) promote a positive team environment. As far as the ‘micromanagement’ comments – this is a BUSINESS PROCESS STANDARDIZATION company. There will be some form of that due to what has been found to work/what has been successful in the past 30+ years. What I am a huge fan of here: There is no board of directors to appease. There is no C-Suite just to have a C-Suite with fancy job titles. There is no red tape here. You need something, you ask for it, you’ll get it. There are no obstacles to being successful. It honestly just comes down to the individual fit. Those that like it here, stay here, and thrive here. Period.

Cons

Nothing to report con wise.

Pros

You are truly in control of your professional growth—there are opportunities to learn many different aspects of the business beyond your initial role. I was hired as a Business Analyst but have been able to expand my skill set significantly. Compensation and benefits are strong. The company operates on an “earn-in” reward philosophy—if you consistently deliver high-quality work and contribute, leadership recognizes and rewards that effort. Generous time off compared to my previous employer. In addition to standard holidays, the company observes several federal holidays and provides extra time around Christmas and New Year’s. PTO includes two weeks plus personal days. Excellent flexibility for personal needs. As long as you provide advance notice, it’s easy to accommodate doctor appointments or personal matters. Hybrid work model with remote work every other week. Culture is a major strength. Team-building activities like happy hours and team lunches are common, and senior leadership genuinely cares about employee well-being and work-life balance. Leadership maintains an open-door policy and is very receptive to new ideas and suggestions. Great environment for people who enjoy process improvement, efficiency initiatives, and change management.

Cons

There are occasional periods where extra hours are required to meet project deadlines, though this is far less demanding than my previous project management role. Work is project-based, so you need to be comfortable shifting priorities and adapting to different client and project needs. Decent learning curve so must be able to learn quickly.
