Pros
Autonomy. Freedom from the office once you were able to finally get on the road. The patients were mostly kind and grateful for the healthcare. Gas mileage was paid for, but the wear and tear on your car can not be recouped.
Cons
Everything else! Management was less educated than RN staff and joked about their higher position without having to get educational advancement. They required the RNs to gather own packets for each patient that was picked that morning. Per diem was how we were paid, so we were often held in the office d/t management lagging in prining itineraries off. Patient visits were often scattered and one spent hours on the road. Not profitable and was time consuming. No computer charting so hours of paper work every evening after an already long day!
