Pros

To date I have found LHC Group to be an honest, fair, and financially responsible company that offers its employees a good benefit package and competitive wages. Upper management makes themselves available to their employees at all times. The company provides education for all employees and requires that they stay current with such in order to provide the best care for our patients. Management has gone to Washington on numerous occasions to advocate on behalf of our elderly. LHC has always insisted on doing business ethically and according to governmental guidelines (even when it appeared that other agencies were gaining an edge by NOT adhering to those same guidelines) For this, LHC has earned my respect.

Cons

Heartbreaking to see positions eliminated due to Medicare cuts. While education classes are certainly necessary, they are sometimes too long and are a burden to already overloaded schedules. Perhaps breaking some of the longer classes down into 2 shorter session would be an option. LHC is always ahead of the game with the latest technologies and systems, but the Con here is that we are ALWAYS training on something new.

Pros

LHC group is a good company to work for. They offered training and support from management. I would say a solid company culture from my experience. I felt supported and checked on by my team.

Cons

Cons depend on the agency you work for. I had a good experience with my location and team.

Pros

Autonomy, days go by quick, expectations are defined.

Cons

Unmanageable workload/cases. Expected to fulfill number of points per week. Charting beyond business hours every day. Start of care visits also included hands on care. One visit took 3 hours because of 8 wounds and that didn’t include documentation. Oasis is tedious and comprehensive. Territory was supposed to be 10 minutes from home; it was not. Sometimes 45 minutes between each case with 5-6 cases for the day. Totally unmanageable for a seasoned and organized nurse. I cannot imagine how it would be for a less experienced nurse. Overworked and overwhelmed my entire time. I learned a lot from training modules but then you’re out on your own to troubleshoot. Unless you’re willing to hustle every single day and are willing to chart during dinner time and then still take time to confirm next day’s appointments, stay away.
