Boring work, low pay, bad leadership - Sales Representative LEARFIELD Employee Review

Pros

You learn how to sell. Most of the properties are struggling mid majors that fans do not really care much about. Tickets are very hard to sell so you end up good at making pitches and prospecting. Free stuff - mostly giveaway Ts and stuff. Sometimes your Ath Dept will give you stuff but other than that do not get too excited. Great stepping stone to learn how to sell and then bolt for a better job.

Cons

Upper management is so disconnected from the bottom level of the company that it is laughable. Training is a joke and employees are treated like children. The money is terrible, especially if you are at a small property. GM leadership depends on the individual. Manager was not good and never set goals or discussed future opportunities. If you are truly set on working in college athletics sales then this is not the worst place to start. Be prepared to average less than a thousand dollars a month and to cold call people who do not want to talk to you.

Pros

I want to say that Learfield and its different divisions (Ticket Sales, MMR, etc). care a lot for their employees. The will put in endless resources to their respective properties to see them succeed. I met wonderful people across the country through networking within the company and they helped prepare me for the work I do day and day out. If you are open to moving for new opportunities within the company you will find that at Learfield. Regional Managers will let you know of ways to rise through the ranks. They will also allow you to be part of leadership development programs too! The flexible PTO is also a nice benefit as Learfield is aware life can be serious at times and they want you to have time to take care of yourself or family.

Cons

Since Learfield is 3rd Party you are at the mercy of the college athletic department Learfield operates at. These athletic departments vary in scope and size. Some are great partners, and other not so much. If you find yourself at a toxic athletic department it will make progress and growth hard to happen as Non-Learfield partners will short your worth or intentionally make your job hard. If deliberate or by incompetence that part you may never know.
