Pros

Great, passionate coworkers; relatively flexible schedule

Cons

Terrible management is widespread across different departments; benefits are mediocre; there is little to no movement for career advancement; and there is little to no professional skills development (I felt like my skills were devolving). I thought things had changed at LAHSA, but the reviews from years ago still hold true today. Overall, management and structure are so terrible that you will barely be able to make a difference here despite thinking you can. LAHSA does not have a vision/long-term plan to maintain institutional knowledge/long-term employment. Which is bad news for an agency addressing such a critical issue. In addition, the company lacks accountability and cultural competency. Expect to experience a wide variety of microagressions -- from racism, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia to even anti-homeless sentiments from co-workers. Employees that espouse these foul sentiments are not properly disciplined/removed despite HR's awareness and multiple reports on such individuals. Mediocre at best, toxic at worst. Choose wisely.
