      Generally smart and hard-working people, and one of the few union shops left in journalism

      Cons

      VVM or VMG or whatever they call themselves nowadays consistently chipped away at a proud institution

      Pros

      Every day was different. Independent work. Go to cool places. A great place to start out when first moving to Los Angeles, Able to make lots of connections

      Cons

      None that I can think of. It's part-time/contract work. So you would need additional employment elsewhere.
