Pros

Great international team of journalists and editors covering the most important stories in Ukraine. Whether you're a recent graduate or a someone with several years of journalism experience under your belt, KP offers very good opportunities to cover stories of both local and international importance, grow and develop as a journalist, and see your name in print (not just on the website — this is a rare opportunity nowadays). The KP team is wonderful and feels a bit like a family. After a year working at KP you will know Ukraine like the back of your hand. KP is also run much better than virtually all other English-language media outlets in Ukraine (and probably many of the Ukrainian-language ones, too).

Cons

Nothing surprising here, but keeping a medium-sized news publication up and running in Ukraine takes a lot of work (although management is generally understanding and flexible). Because the KP staff is mixed Ukrainian & international, writing abilities in English vary, making editing of paramount importance. Salaries are very good for Ukraine, but fall a bit short of DC, London, etc.

One of very few independent media outlets in Ukraine. High integrity professionals.

Pros

Before 2021, it was a wonderful place to work with great journalists and editors.

Cons

In 2021, the owner fired the entire staff as part of a conflict over editorial independence. Unfortunately, KP isn't the same news site it used to be. The old staff founded the Kyiv Independent, which has grown way better than KP used to be.
