Tough and possibly damaging on young engineers in the early stages of their career. Had seen it done to a number of young people during my time at the business with them leaving a relatively short time after joining. Some engineering department managers are well out of touch with their teams and can leave them without any support for long periods. Contact between engineering line managers can be very poor and it can be extremely difficult to get a hold of them for 5 minutes.
