Pros
- Unionized environment for Engineering - Great compensation, benefits, and pension package. This is probably the best part of working here. The health benefits are amazing. Dental covers 90% of your cost and has no upper limit for regular dental expenditure. The pension plan is a defined benefit plan. - The company aims to develop junior staff thru training, mentoring, observation, and coaching. - Lot of interesting work with a variety - If you are interested you can work for other departments during low workload.
Cons
- Extreme workload and constant deadline chasing. - Understaffed (my personal opinion) - Work-life balance is a battle if you focus too much on professional success. - Project management tools are not integrated. As a consultant company, it should have a well-developed documentation management process. It clearly lacks that. Also, schedule, project updates, costing, etc. uses different tools which don't talk to each other. Thus, requires another platform to manage the information integration. - Recent employee turnover rate seems higher.
