Pros
Excellent opportunity right out of flight training/college to get quick flight time traveling the country and getting paid to do so. One of the few segments of aviation left where you're paid to fly a C310/C320 single pilot all over the country. Flight department was a great group to work with, the Director of Flight Op and supervisor go above and beyond to make sure the pilots are shielded by management's chaos. Maintenance was top notch, never more than an inop taxi light despite the older, high-time airplanes that are flown. Safety is always a top priority and outside of a stressed and pressured project manager or two, you won't be forced to fly in something you aren't comfortable flying in. Days off when the weather is bad (survey flying lifestyle) can really be used to your advantage when based somewhere with consecutive days of inclement weather are common. Per diem is on-par with the airlines at $50/day. Hilton/IHG/Marriott hotels are the standard with a rental car budget at every base. Camera operators are generally very cool people and make deployments more enjoyable. I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.
Cons
You simply aren't paid enough for the work you do and the time spent away from home. No deployment schedule and due to the pilot shortage, deploying for 3 months is common with only a couple nights at home before deploying again for months at a time - incompatible job with a family. Management either doesn't comprehend or care about pilot retention. This leads to an incredibly painful job for the flight department director and supervisor to carry on their own responsibilities in addition to trying to balance the extremely limited vacation time every pilot is allowed (typically just enough to keep them around), plus interviewing and training new-hires themselves. There are no performance-based bonuses despite how much revenue the pilots directly make for the company. You can watch the pilots lose motivation around the 6 month mark because they realize their effort isn't going to be rewarded, and you'll be praised more by the client or your flight department personnel vs. management. Much like a 135 gig in the fact that you are always on call, weekends and holidays with the only exception of Christmas. Low pay and a poor schedule leads to a high turnover rate in the flight department due to the significant incentives and set schedule the regional airlines are offering now.
