Pros

The most notable pro is the people. Everyone, especially upper management, is kind and conscientious. They value work-life balance. The entire company is made up of good people.

Cons

The only con for me was a lot of my time I worked on projects on my own. This was a pro at first but it became a bit lonely after a while.

Pros

In-house Knowledge • The team is composed of experienced professionals who have extensive backgrounds working in the industry. • Kepion develops its own core libraries to minimize third-party dependencies, enhancing stability and responsiveness to customer needs. Code Development • Utilizes an object-oriented code base. • Developers are responsible for design, coding, and thorough testing. • Autonomy to work on interesting tasks that are aligned with the team's goals. • Every code change undergoes rigorous peer and architect reviews to maintain high coding standards and code coherence. • Emphasizes working smarter rather than simply working harder. • Employs GitHub for code repository and review processes. Product Strength • The team takes pride in developing features and capabilities for customers. • Kepion has a low annual customer churn rate (last year < 3%). Work-Life Balance • Employees receive 4 weeks of PTO. • Remote work is an option. Loyalty • Many senior staff members have been with the company since its inception. • I felt I had been treated fairly, and I am happy and proud of my achievements.

Cons

Company Size • As a small, close-knit company, efficient cooperation among teams is essential to meet goals, which sometimes necessitates urgent responses to customer needs. • The thorough code review process, while ensuring quality, can be time-consuming. • May not be suitable for less experienced developers. Developers need to be quick learners and problem solvers, capable of meeting product requirements. Technical Skill • There is an expectation of self-sufficiency and that requires a high degree of technical skill and focus. Those with advanced degrees may find it easier to adapt to these demands. Remote Work • Scheduling may be a challenge for team meetings when everyone gets busy. • Harder to get connected with everyone outside of online meetings. • Few people come into the office, myself included.
