Pros

If you want never risk a layoff . I have seen them but that was 20 sum years ago . For Now Holiday Pay and Paid sick leave Tuition for family waiver (snag to that ) Medical at some what of dismal any more but still lower than Private sector job .

Cons

They do not promote cross training to educate current employees to move forward . They would rather higher person off the street at a Lower wage . I have seen them thumb nose at cross department transfers to the point now they will offer you the position but you must take hire wage example if job pay 9.75 hour you get 9.75 hour not your current wage .The Pay Increase stink for staff employees no incentives for loyalty 2 % a year if your lucky . Then Factor in the hike in health care . You will roll back further in your wages than when you started if you require health insurance The wage issue is same for salary staff also if they want transfer get a lot info when you have relative in hr department.. If you dare transfer from Main campus be prepared to be blitz with this how we do things your not at main campus. Mind you this beyond doing your normal adjust to location . I had them just brow beat me say if not like it head back to Main Campus .Honest great example in pay rate staff at Main Make $ 3 dollar hour more than regional campus turn over is outstanding crazy and constant . Personal other than starter job . I would never say work at Kent State for life . You receive more work less pay more stress and guilt . They very rarely work to help train current employee to advance do more effort to dis courage it.. I hate to say but Start wage at Main Campus now Pay more than what I make now . Sad I been at Kent State 23 years but if you think I lie try it and find out laughs I rare gamble and lose . Tuition waiver sum department frown on higher employee staff that are young with dependent children . So they try fill staff jobs with dependent less families as much as there able . Can only guess what that issue is but I heard it cause they not want tuition money come from there department budget .That heard first party not 2nd .also the waiver Family good till there 24 years old for kids .

Pros

The job was really insightful and opened you up to first-hand IT experience. There's not a lot of pressure as a student employee, and it opens you to diff opportunity across campus. My bosses were really helpful and assisted with balancing scool work and the Job

Cons

The pay wasn't the best as compared to some other roles on campus, but as you get promoted in the role few dollars get added. I think it's just a university-wide issue
