Pros
Excellent example of the start up culture...most staff is passionate about their job and cares to do their best to move the company forward. Within my year with the company I learned to adapt and evolve with the company, made great national relationships within the peers of my company, learned a bunch of new technology based aids (Salesforce, Concur, internal programs, Apple Products) and it was the most challenging yet rewarding position I've had. I totally believed in their product: online marketplace for events, something to me, that is still revolutionary and hasn't been accomplished successfully yet in the mainstream. Although I was really bummed that I was among the group that was laid off in April, I do appreciate them being forthcoming a few days beforehand instead of blindsiding us. I also understood this was unfortunately the risk of working with a startup when I was being hired.
Cons
There are no standard operating procedures; who you report to is constantly changing (ie I had 5 bosses within a year). You have to make executive decisions to move the needle forward and also take initiative based on your skill set and confidence to think outside the box and just do things to make it work. If you are looking for structure, set hours, or stability, this work culture IS NOT for you.
