A college created by lawyers to manipulate government funding... - Associate Director of Admissions Kaplan University Employee Review

Pros

I made over 100K per year..

Cons

I defrauded the government and everyone I sold this program too. My wife at the time told me to look at our life and out home... it was all funded by financial aid. Kaplan executives will argue that they are giving educational/career opportunities to people who would not normally have them. The truth is Kaplan University sought out the most financially destitute people regardless of whether they were prepared for college because our politically correct government will unbiased-ly pay for education. From VP's snorting cocaine to commission based compensation for 9 years I saw it all. I was as guilty as anyone. I feel dirty thinking about it. I learned a lesson in karma and I now live with principle and integrity at the forefront of my life. I owe Kaplan in a way. I've experienced the dregs of humanity from top to bottom.

Pros

High salaries for those who've been in the business/company for 5+ yrs (not so much for new employees). Great benefits package compared to the competition.

Cons

Easily replaceable by others who will work for far less $ and that point is driven home daily. KU used to be a great place to work. Now, only the salary and benefits package are keeping me here. It went from a university to a sweatshop. Our goals are constantly increasing, but our salaries are stagnant. Favoritism and unequal opportunities abound, but everyone on a team has the same goal. So it doesn't matter if one advisor gets 20 good leads and another gets 2, you both have to have 20 enrollments to keep your job. We're not allowed to drum up our own business so you better hope you can take enough to get by (from those who are fed and aren't able to follow up like they should). There is enough business at the table for everyone to eat, but some are given steak while others get beans. Why can't we all have hamburgers?
