Pros

You will quickly learn what kind of toxic culture you will never tolerate again.

Cons

- Working here is punishing from start to finish, with endless pressure and no stability. - Pay and bonuses shift so often that you never know what you will actually earn, leaving you constantly anxious. - The workload only grows heavier, no matter how hard you push yourself. - Performance means nothing, since leadership is quick to cut people loose over the smallest issue. - Transparency is nothing but an empty slogan. Critical information is often hidden until disaster strikes, and managers are kept in the dark just as employees are. - Turnover is sky high, and for good reason. Most people either quit within a year or are shoved out. - Teams do not support each other, and sales is left stranded without help from customer service. - Leadership forces through reckless changes while refusing to provide the tools or training to make them work. Every day becomes a desperate scramble to survive.

We're sorry your experience at Kafene was so negative. While it doesn't reflect the culture we're working to build, that doesn't diminish what you went through—and it matters to us. We're committed to learning from feedback, even when it's painful, and to continuing to build a workplace where people feel supported, valued, and set up to succeed. If you're ever open to sharing more, we'd welcome the conversation. We wish you well in what comes next.

Pros

The people who work at Kafene are all awesome to work with. Especially in the New York office... the culture is great. People are smart, open to new ideas, and collaboration is encouraged. Competitive pay and great benefits. The company cares about employee happiness. There is a good balance of skills and expertise that the leadership team brings to the table -- finance backgrounds and tech backgrounds. It's still a start-up so there are some growing pains with processes and things, but I feel confident the company is moving in the right direction and will continue to grow. The snacks in the office are unmatched.

Cons

If you're in NY, you do need to come in 4 days a week. Not a bad thing, but not as much flexibility with your schedule.

This made our day—thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re so glad the culture, collaboration, and team are coming through the way we hope they do. Building a workplace where smart people actually enjoy working together is something we care deeply about, and it’s rewarding to hear that’s your reality. You’re right that we’re still in maturing with some growing pains to work through—we appreciate the patience and the confidence that we’re headed in the right direction. And yes, we take our snack game very seriously. Thanks for being part of what makes Kafene great.
