      Good people, ambiguous leadership - Senior Software Engineer KX Employee Review

      Pros

      The people who you will work with day to day are down to earth, vastly knowledgeable, and great to hang out with. The pay was pretty decent for the first few years but it was flatlining across the company. kdb is an interesting product to learn about and you'll be able to do well within the company if you understand its complexities. You can gain a lot of skills and development very quickly as everyone around you wants you to learn. You can work remotely which gives a lot of freedom and flexibility, there was not any micromanaging. A great benefits package for the most part.

      Cons

      A lot of high performers recently left due to a subpar yearly review process and lack of communication from upper management. KX announced a round of redundancies and looking to offshore, if you're not on a project that involves kdb-x then you're not valuable to them. More generally, if you're not a kdb developer, you are more disposable to the company. KX let go the whole of Spain without notice and had made similar same day redundancies across the business including HR, Product, and UX without much communication. Morale is quite low and there isn't that wider team spirit, especially since it's remote.

      Pros

      This relates to the NY office. -The pay and benefits were fine, had Aetna insurance (not 100% paid by the company). -Was hybrid, only in office 2-3 days per week. -Decent work/life balance. Not many times had to do work out of standard work hours.

      Cons

      -If you're not also upper management, then upper management has no real desire to hear your opinion or input. -prefer "yes-men" over honest opinions led to "bullying by exclusion", meaning purposefully left out of major planning meetings that should have been a part of. was personally a victim of this and have been told by others it happened to them.
