Pros

The pay is good; there's a good work/life balance; they make quality products; everyone has good working conditions, regardless of their role; remote work is flexible. Overall, it's just a job. It feels like the place people go when they're ready to retire - no one is on fire for the products, and most people just want to maintain the status quo, so there is very little pressure.

Cons

They haven't had a real HR person in 20 years. Executive leadership doesn't care about you and they don't want to see the company grow (they say they do with their words, but their actions tell a different story); they used to, but this new batch doesn't. Executive leadership is so risk averse, that they are fearful of opportunities that they can't micromanage because they don't trust their people. Executive leadership won't hesitate to promise you something (raise, promotion, help, opportunity, etc.), but if it's not in writing it will never happen. They'll just say they changed their mind and then gaslight you. There's absolutely no room for advancement and cost of living pay increases only come once every few years (if at all). Executive leadership will threaten your job over little things (nothing to do with your job and everything to do with their feelings), which is unprofessional (at best) and is something I've always hated - it makes your job feel insecure - not great for a place that touts their job security and (quickly falling) retention rates. Worst benefits (insurance) I've had in my adult life (also has a VERY LOW 401k match). The insurance (which costs $9k a year for a family) has a $12k family deductible, which has to be met before insurance will cover a single dollar. That means you have to pay $21,000 out of pocket every year before insurance will cover a single dollar in medical expenses. Don't worry though, if you do end up paying the full $21k, KMC will reimburse you a portion of it at a later date ($2k, or $6k if you bought the more expensive option, the deductible is the same for both though). What's even the point of having insurance?

Pros

If you work hard and have good ideas, you get rewarded.

Cons

You're given a general direction, but the rest is up to you. You at least get empowered.
