Pros

- Things run well as people are motivated by the work and always seem to be conscientious individuals, unless management interfere. - Rewarding to interact with most of the students, especially the student staff. - Day-to-day interactions are pleasant and warm, and working was a joy. I’ve met some of the best people and had some of the best professional interactions in this environment, made lasting friends and felt supported and valued. - Very diverse staff environment and diversity of work too. - Organisation provides great services to students, in spite of lack of management direction and support - Great locations to work in (Covent Garden and London Bridge - joys of Borough Market on your doorstep!). Offices in the Strand are very plush. - Access to the wider King’s facilties, such as King’s Sport, gyms and a free online series of high quality exercise classes.

Cons

- In spite of organisational values of being ‘open’ and ‘collaborative’ the management are neither of these. - ‘Wellbeing' is touted as central to the organisation but this is a joke. The irony is intense. - Management go on about their values and culture a lot but don't actually do anything. The generally positive environment is in spite of the management, not because of it. - The majority of my time was a good experience until a recent management-led restructure, allegedly for ‘impact’ reasons although no metrics or rationale were forthcoming. -This has been orchestrated by an individual who was unaware of how the organisation works on a day-to-day level, and an HR person whose actions seemed illegal and callous and went against the in-house guidelines (no business case provided etc). So being ‘open’ is probably in question as perhaps there is financial trouble? - Data breaches have happened, as well as confidentiality breaks. Yet another place which could be amazing that is spoiled by an out-of-touch, top-heavy and lumbering hierarchy.
