Pros

The co-workers are nice and friendly.

Cons

The place is short staffed and has been poorly managed for years with the managers taking on too many projects/deadlines for the staff to complete. The manager you will be reporting to is frequently demanding and confrontational. The internal coding platform/framework you will use every day is ancient, full of technical debt, glitches and hacky workarounds.

Pros

- Genuine flexibility with remote work that respects work-life balance - You'll gain valuable domain expertise in emergency management, public safety, and crisis response that's unique in tech - Collaborative team culture with talented colleagues who are invested in the mission and quick to support each other - Your work has real impact - supporting first responders, emergency managers, healthcare systems, and federal agencies that protect communities - Military-friendly culture that understands Guard/Reserve commitments

Cons

- Compensation is below market rate - annual raises don't help if you start significantly under market - Frequent leadership changes can disrupt continuity and career development - Tech stack is a little outdated which may limit skill development - Limited growth trajectory without significant organizational changes - Workload increases with performance, but recognition and compensation don't scale accordingly
