These reflections are about organisational fit, not individual capability. Every company has trade-offs. Technical Foundation: The codebase presented significant architectural challenges. Integrating modern AI capabilities often required building separate proof-of-concept systems rather than working within the core platform. Engineers who value clean architecture and technical sustainability may find this frustrating. Engineering Culture: Strong emphasis on velocity over code quality. Technical debt tends to accumulate. If you thrive in "move fast" environments and don't mind working around constraints, you may enjoy it. If you prefer investing time in proper foundations and refactoring, this may not be the right fit. Leadership Communication: Experienced conflicting direction from different parts of the organisation, which made prioritisation challenging and confusing. Leadership changes during my tenure contributed to uncertainty about team structure and strategy. Organisational Changes: Communication around restructuring could have been more transparent in my opinion. Would have appreciated clearer information about alternative role opportunities during team changes. Neurodiversity: If you require workplace adjustments (ADHD, autism, etc.), I suggest to have explicit conversations about accommodations with your manager and get commitments documented in writing. Ensure processes and expectations are clear before accepting an offer. Work-Life Balance: Expectations around responsiveness and delivery pace may be challenging. If you have difficulty in setting boundaries or health considerations, carefully evaluate whether this pace is sustainable for you before accepting. Note: My experience was within the Product/Engineering function of the business. I cannot speak to the culture in other departments.

Richard here, Juro's CEO. Thanks for taking the time to write this feedback. On the restructure: I know this is tough. Layoffs are the hardest thing we do and are never easy for those affected. I'm proud of the communication our People and leadership team does around them. Feedback we've received was consistently that as tough as it is, we handle it in a human way (with ongoing support for leavers like you, such as CV review, intro to portfolio companies, access to our mental health platform etc.). On engineering trade-offs: velocity is increasing fast as trend at Juro and >80% of our efforts are going into AI-native capabilities such as Operator, intake agents and AI review. Technical debt remains but things are moving much faster. On accommodations: I'll be very direct here, since this is something we genuinely take pride in and I don't want anyone reading to get the wrong impression. We ask people about adjustments at multiple points, including during hiring and again at moments like returning from leave. We run time off on trust, fund therapy through Spill, train our managers in mental health awareness, and have trained mental health first aiders across the team. Several of our own leaders are neurodiverse or manage health conditions. We're not perfect and open to improvement, but supporting people who work differently is something we've built on purpose from the very beginning. Wishing you well in what's next. - Richard
