Pros
It's refreshing to work at Jones IT. People are supportive, caring, and genuine. We prioritize organization and professionalism for our clients, but the culture here allows everyone's personalities and quirks to shine. The collective greater than the sum of its parts and everyone has something to contribute. I didn't expect to enjoy working here as much as I have: I'm taking a break from my career as a software engineer to pursue something more stable and human-focused, and this job could not have come at a better time. It's been such a long time since I've been able to say I genuinely enjoy showing up to work.
Everyone in the company started out as an IT Consultant, which means everyone understands what it's like to do on-the-ground work. My needs are prioritized much more as an individual contributor than in previous companies, which prioritized larger initiatives and the desires of people who were frankly quite disconnected from the actual day-to-day work.
Cons
Only con is the pay cut from Software Eng to IT, but I get it, it's an entry role.
Sometimes it can be a bit busy, but it's a great lesson in managing your workload and asserting boundaries, which is an expected part of the job.
