Pros

- Good work culture, they try and promote a place of support, fun, and learning. - Good incentives to learn and grow. - You'll touch so many different kinds of technology, it's an incredible opportunity for a newbie. - Management will support you when you mess up with a client. Just don't mess up often. - They'll give you a chance when you're starting out but you have to prove your worthy. If you are, they'll work hard to keep you around. - Amazingly diverse. They do an excellent job hiring people from all walks of life.

Cons

- Billable hours, it's genuinely the only metric management cares about. - People getting fired without explanation promoted a sense of fear. - As an older person, the vibe is very "we're in our mid-twenties and were a scrappy startup just living for the moment before we make it big time". It's not a terrible thing, it just can get annoying after awhile. - Since it's an MSP, the revolving door is real. After one year, you're with an almost completely new group of people. - Engineers with real experience, actual tenure, and decent knowledge tended to be crabby, withdrawn, and jaded.

Pros

It's refreshing to work at Jones IT. People are supportive, caring, and genuine. We prioritize organization and professionalism for our clients, but the culture here allows everyone's personalities and quirks to shine. The collective greater than the sum of its parts and everyone has something to contribute. I didn't expect to enjoy working here as much as I have: I'm taking a break from my career as a software engineer to pursue something more stable and human-focused, and this job could not have come at a better time. It's been such a long time since I've been able to say I genuinely enjoy showing up to work. Everyone in the company started out as an IT Consultant, which means everyone understands what it's like to do on-the-ground work. My needs are prioritized much more as an individual contributor than in previous companies, which prioritized larger initiatives and the desires of people who were frankly quite disconnected from the actual day-to-day work.

Cons

Only con is the pay cut from Software Eng to IT, but I get it, it's an entry role. Sometimes it can be a bit busy, but it's a great lesson in managing your workload and asserting boundaries, which is an expected part of the job.

Pros

- Amazing community, Teammates will have your back and the leaders are there to foster growth - Great workload. You'll be able to learn very quickly if you have the drive and the right mindset.

Cons

- The current office is in a penthouse. There's approximately 3/4 flights of stairs that need to be climbed every single time you go, though we are moving offices soon
