Pros

Overall great work/life balance, many great lay leaders who care deeply about the success of the organization and often work well with staff, and is an historically well-respected institution among civic leaders

Cons

Many challenges in keeping consistency with Israel and domestic advocacy, too much reliance on a small number of big donors (which is a challenge at many non-profits, not just JCRC), and decreased trust between senior leadership and the rest of the staff . Anyone who is passionate about Israel - regardless of political perspectives from left to right - should be warned about the organization's deeply unfortunate paralysis when it comes to carving a path on Israel that is consistent with its consensus platform, the need for honest and public dialogue about the country from a community relations angle, and the acrimony it brings among the organization's donor class that is deeply divided like anywhere else in the American Jewish community. JCRC cannot be blamed for all of this; it's part of the nature of where the community is today versus the majority of its existence.
