Pros

Cute product, nice teammates in general.

Cons

Unrealistic expectations from the CEO/Creative Director. She knows the exact qualifications of the person they are hiring(college grad) and expects them to have the knowledge of a VP of PR that has been working for more than a decade. Wants you to answer texts at 11pm, and at 7:00 am on weekends. No power for discussion or to even exchange ideas. Will not turn on the AC during 95-degree weather. Will have you freeze during the winter. Does not hire a cleaning service and expects employees to clean the office (two large open spaces). Roaches and bugs hanging around.. Will leave plates of kimchi to rot for days and not clean up after themselves. Little to no training. Impossible to ask any questions without being treated like your questions are stupid. When I once fainted due to stress and overall pressure I was told to leave bc she was leaving on a business trip and did not want me to "infect her" with whatever I had. Did not call a cab, or ambulance, or provide me with any assistance of any sort.

Pros

JB has a close-knit office environment and a lot of team members have been there for years. The product is really beautifully crafted and jewelry is made in Greenpoint studio! Lots of face time with the designer, room for collaboration and creativity.

Cons

You wear a lot of hats as is normal with a small team environment but great for learning.

Pros

Kind, smart and talented members of the team

Cons

Jennifer, herself - she is at the core of all problems her company is facing. Do not buy the lie she touts that sustainability is at all part of their model or that every piece is “handcrafted in Brooklyn”- the line is mass-produced in China and created with no concern for quality. The materials are cheap and unethical, and the pieces are not created to last, yet the prices being charged are on par with what some brands charge for fine jewelry that is made with true materials and high quality craftsmanship. The team is smart and talented but they’re being held hostage by a toxic environment and abuse perpetuated by Jennifer. In the short time I was there, I was told by multiple team members about the disrespect they experienced from Jennifer. I’m also pretty positive that the financial outlook is bleak- they have to be hemorrhaging money, the way they pour money into huge collections to align with fast fashion calendars that don't actually sell, and they sit on hoards of purchased dead-stock material that will never go into production. The cherry on top is that the space itself is hazardous- I brought my air quality monitor in and the results for CO2, pm 2.5 and VOC were off the charts poor to hazardous and could be reported to OSHA. This place is harmful psychologically and physically. DO NOT WORK HERE. The worst experience I’ve ever had in my over 2 decades of professional experience.
