Pros

Great people Know your name, you are more than a number Decent discount, great products Learn lots of info Customers are great, lots of return clients, become your friends

Cons

Stressful; personal budgets are in place but no change in retail pattern are taken into consideration (slowed traffic, less customers, etc). Lots of other things to do besides sell, sometimes impossible to balance customers and tasks. Pay; ok only if you sell enough, needs to be less focused on commission since retail shopping patterns are different Reviews; heavily based on black and white numbers and not looked on other operation skills (visual, reports, organization, etc) that are equally important to the business

Pros

Good sales experience for those who haven't been in retail before

Cons

Very heavily weighed on the 4 Steps of Selling they teach you and maintaining ridiculously high budgets for overpriced and often, cheap merchandise. Many customers had complained about the sales people being too pushy and pushing them to buy products they didn't want, but felt like they needed to because the employee would not stop pushing it. Employees also have to buy and wear current clothes, which are pretty expensive, even at 50% off. Part-time employees are required to shell out the same amount of money as FT employees, to pay for outfits every few weeks to keep up with current merchandise. And you have to wear what is being sol in store, not even the items that appear only online.
