Pros
**NOTE: Company has rebranded in 2020 to Ava Security*** In my 8 month tenure there was rapid development of really cool endpoint security technology. They eventually settled on Insider Threat detection & response on the cybersecurity focus. There was significant investment in trade shows for the first half of 2019. Internal culture was collaborative. The Vaion video security technology enabled by computer vision machine learning looked interesting in an early preview that I saw. The company has now pivoted into that market.
Cons
In hindsight ELT had 0 experience in launching a successful *cybersecurity* startup. There was a lot of hubris from two successful exits in the video/collaboration space. The R&D team built a cool UI and cloud technology stack and then the management team tried to figure out the cybersecurity segment they fit into and made a half hearted effort at a GTM strategy. They laid off several sales teams and the entire small marketing department end of summer 2019. Company focus due to lack of quick success in cybersecurity shifted back to their comfort zone of video technology. Most of their cybersecurity sales team is gone and US presence is hollowed out leaving only northern EU and UK. While I was there they showed very little transparency on the cash burn situation of the company though I was assured when joining there was plenty of cash on hand from the previous successful Tandberg and Acano exits.
