Pros

Really, it varies program to program, they have over 40, I have experience with 8 of them. In general though: Excellent benefits, both dental and medical Supportive management. I've never worked anywhere before that offered the emotional support that I recieved. EAP - free therapy when needed! Lots of training offered (you sometimes have to ask superiors to figure out how to make it so you can go though) Lots of room for movement within the agency, up or to other programs to get a variety of experience. The experience garnered from working with the youth I did is irreplaceable. You can tell the agency truly cares for the youth they serve.

Cons

Again, it really varies program to program, they have over 40, I have experience with 8 of them. In general though: Janus is a very white agency. Little diversity in staff. Would like to see this improve. The pay is not great. However, they are a non-profit and I understand being limited by grants. Unfortunately, low pay means high turn-over. I saw this in a lot of the programs. This is stressful for the line staff, as they usually take the brunt of it. Again, not unique to Janus. Some staff in some of the programs exhibit toxic behaviors that can create an unhealthy work environment- most of these staff are the ones who have been there 10 plus years. Again, not unique to Janus though. Working with youth in high-risk situations is a hard thing to do. This is not the agencies fault, just the nature of the job. It's can be very emotionally and mentally draining.

We really appreciate how you detailed some of the struggles we face (and are often common to non-profits). Creating a diverse work force is very important to us especially as many of the populations we work with are marginalized or minority populations. We would love more diversity and encourage anyone meeting our job requirements to apply, because we are limited by who applies! Thanks for taking the time to review us, we hope you are successful in your future ventures!

Pros

(Farm position) easy first job, kind, understanding community, values all employees and listens to their concerns

Cons

They aren’t super involved with the programs directly most of the time, it takes a while for them to get back to you

Thank you for your review! We appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback for Janus Youth Programs. In listening to our employee concerns it is, unfortunately, true that our response times vary quite a bit across the organization. The variety and types of programs run by Janus Youth Programs is quite broad and, though we aim for unified responses to issues, we still encounter scenarios that require checking with various contractors and licensing agencies prior to responding. Again, thank you for your time!

Pros

Flexible schedule. As a substitute at the beginning of the month you can comment on the schedule to pick up shifts and can often work 30-40 hours or not at all that week if desired. Can be fun if you enjoy working with teenagers.

Cons

Depending on who you are or could be an emotionally taxing job at times
