A better place for students than employees - Anonymous employee James A. Rhodes State College Employee Review

Pros

Rhodes has some great people working there in all departments, and I think the students can get a great two-year education. Some department heads work to be very employee friendly, which can be difficult given the political environment of the institution as a whole. I thought the benefits were alright, even if salaries needed much work. The best part about working at Rhodes were the people, but every time you encountered someone who really worked as a team to help students, you hoped they would find a way out for their own sake.

Cons

The college has policies in place that show it is largely out of touch with trends in higher education. Work hours are inflexible, bureaucracy runs rampant, and there is drama within and between departments. The extremely lengthy time it takes to fill important positions can be explained by the ridiculously low salaries (even low when considering cost of living, type of institution, etc.), and the high turnover can be explained by what people find when they begin working at Rhodes.
