Pros

1. No matter your age, you will have a significant impact on the projects the firm works on. 2. Great company to work for if you want to learn a lot quick. 3. The partners want to see you grow professionally and will help you strategize ways to develop new skills.

Cons

The partners are often too busy to check and see how their staff is doing. This can cause managers/supervisors/senior associate staff to hand off their work to the associates, which can cause extreme burnout for the the lower level staff . Seems like the associate staff gets piled with work, but as you get promoted the more free time you get to mess around and “manage” everyone. If you don’t mind being micro-managed by someone who isn’t a partner and working like a dog until you get to the very top, then this is the job for you. This is the only down-side, but if this could change then this company would definitely be a 5-star.

Pros

Overall, JTaylor has an excellent culture. It feels like a family and everyone enjoys celebrating each others successes and life milestones. It is a teamwork environment and everyone comes together to help each other around deadlines. The busy season hours are fair for public accounting. They are transitioning to a project-based hours system, so the hours could vary going forward.

Cons

There are lots of inexperienced new hires that can be difficult to work with. For this reason, about half of the team has to work way harder to compensate for their shortcomings. There is some immaturity on the part of the younger partner leadership. A few of them play favorites and will badmouth staff to other staff. Unfortunately, this was a recurring event that happened more than once. I want to reiterate that this is only apparent with a small sector of senior leadership, most of them are great and very professional.
